Golf Scoring

Scoring in golf is a little different than other sports. The goal in golf is to have a low score, whereas soccer, hockey, baseball, etc. Scoring is based on the number of strokes it takes a player to complete each hole and then added up at the end. Each hole in golf has what is called a par. The par at each hole is the number of strokes an excellent golfer is expected to make the ball into the hole. An average par typically ranges from three to five strokes.

This is a golf score card. Each row has identifying factors towards the score.

  • The top green row is numbered one through eighteen, and this row represents the hole.
  • The next three rows identifies the how far the tee box is from the hole, gold is the furthers than blue, than white and finally red.
  • Par determines the amount of strokes an expert golfer has per hole.
  • The next few slots are spaces for you to fill in players names followed by strokes per hole.
  • Men’s and women’s handicap measures a golfer’s playing ability. The handicap allows for equal playing field amongst golfers in a group.
  • Lastly, the score card is divided by the front 9-holes and the back-9 holes. For many reasons, some of these reasons being; you can compare your front 9 score to your back 9 score, easier to keep track, easier for counting up total, ability to just play front 9 holes.
