EDCamp

EDCamp: “informal sessions by and for teachers, where anyone can present, and the focus is on collaboration and connections, group expertise, tech tools, and instructional design.” (edutopia)

What do EDCamps do?

The organization’s mission is to revolutionize education and promote fair access to learning by integrating research, practical application, and technology. With a focus on equity, they aim to address significant educational issues through their Impact Goals. While they prioritize closing the Digital Learning Gap, their efforts extend beyond technology. Through research, they aim to understand how digital tools can enhance learning equitably. They foster national networks to unite stakeholders and tackle common issues in education. Additionally, their programs empower educators and communities with tools and assistance to translate educational ideals into effective practices promoting equitable learning experiences.

Why are EDCamps useful?

They are useful tools for teachers and learners because as an individual attending the conference, the discussion topics are based on personal needs, interests and expertise, and those that are interested in learning more, contributing, or asking questions are welcome to join the specific topics. It is a way to reach a wide variety of topics in an interesting, inviting manor.

EDCamps also allow for networking opportunities to arise, any kind of educators are invited. This brings together educators who are of diverse backgrounds, settings, education experiences, and teaching experience to provide valuable insights into their perspectives. This allows for further growth on each educator attending.
